Chromebooks & Upper Elementary Students

Flickr: Pierre Lecourt
Chromebooks...the fastest growing device purchase in Edtech. How do you utilize them in an elementary setting?

We have had Chromebooks in our district for a little over a year, although we have been a GAFE district for five. As elementary teachers get a little more comfortable with the devices, they are wondering how can they truly be used with our students.

To help answer that question, Sandy Engbarth & I  are offering a Creating with Chromebooks Grades 3 -5 session for our teachers over the summer with two follow-up sessions during the school year. We are starting our session off with how to really use the basic apps of Google Drawing, Google Slides, & Google Sheets. In our session, we are including Making Thinking Visible strategies throughout the day to give teachers some new instructional strategies. Our presentation is below with links embedded to the activities/ideas for teachers. Please feel free to take a look and hopefully gain some ideas to use in your classroom. And don't forget the resource links at the end of the presentation for our sources and additional ideas.
